In reference to How can I skip the unskippable adverts on DVD, the solution of STOP-STOP-PLAY was given for most DVD players to get past the UOP features. However, the Sony Playstation 3 uses STOP-STOP to give control back to the PS3 interface. It would be very handy to skip the warnings, advertisements, trailers, and public service messages and get on to the disc menu. So, on the PS3 we're left with trying combinations of FFWD, NEXT-CHAP, TOP-MENU, and simply waiting to get to the disc menu. Are there any PS3 tips, tricks, hacks, etc. to get past UOP features quickly and on to the main menu? |

not really.. some discs let you skip trailers with chapter skip [R1] or jump to the main menu [triangle or square] but usually you just have to wait. I suppose you could isolate the titles you want and burn them standalone to a BD-RW, but this is certainly going to be more effort and take more time than just waiting a couple of minutes. Different publishers have different templates for their blurays.. e.g. disney usually have a load of (skippable) trailers ahead of the menu; universal often stick a language select screen before the unskippable logo(s) sequence. if you know what the disc wants you to press or not press (and when), you can be brave and try navigating to the main menu with your screen/projector off too! It does annoy me that they waste so many minutes of my precious projector lamp life with unskippable crap. I'm pretty sure this isn't the answer you were looking for, but these are my tips: Set the disc playing with the sound system off, go make a cup of tea/coffee and/or practice darts for a few minutes while it chugs though the "you must watch this" rubbish, then turn the sound system on. If you're really fastidious, note down how long the rubbish lasts and which buttons you can/should press (and when), and keep the note in the disc case for next time. I suppose a Post-it or similar would be ideal for this. @zoinks - LOL. Yeah, that's more or less what i have to do now (minus the Post-Its)... but the question is how to skip all that. :)

I was able to skip the ads on a DVD that would not let me by pressing triangle on the DVD icon and selecting Play from Beginning. Edit: Post that a bit too quick. If you play from beginning then stop then play the movie again it should play the movie. |
