I saw an advert for the Popcorn Hour. I'm thinking of getting one but would like to know what people think of it. Does anyone have one and would they recommend it? Are there any reliable reviews or setup guides?

I have a A-110 and I love it. As far as setup, it is fairly straight forward although I did have to refer to the wiki and the forums for some info. Here is my quick review:

Positives:

  • Supports pretty much any video and audio format you throw at it
  • Supports all resolutions of content including full 1080p HD
  • Very small and quiet

Negatives:

  • Don't even try using it over a wireless connection - way too slow
  • The interface is very basic and not very impressive. You can, however, improve it with programs like YAMJ.
  • The remote is a little strange but not too bad

Overall, everybody who uses the system finds it pretty easy to use. Most people are very impressed by the fact that they can instantly stream so many movies (I store all of my movies and TV shows on a server in a different room) and they usually say something like "I would love to have this in my house."

You can also install an internal hard drive inside of the Popcorn Hour itself but this will add some noise and heat but will eliminate any potential network issues.
