In layman's terms what is the practical difference between a 4 Ohm and a 6 Ohm speaker? I'll provide the obvious answer for myself: 2 Ohms.

Apart from some numbers, what difference does it make to the amplifier, to the sound, and to the power consumption?

In this case Ohms is a measure of Impedance, not resistance. – Brad Gilbert Nov 9 at 15:12
@Brad thanks for that, I'll update the question – film bluff Nov 9 at 20:29
